Beside the Road Today

Our Father, let me talk with Thee
Beside the road today,
As did the man of Galilee
Who taught us how to pray.
Let me lift up mine eyes, and say
In this beleaguered hour,
"I know Thy way and power,
Today the same;
And hallowed be Thy name."

Then let me hear the voice of Love,
The angel of Thy Word;
That commendation from above,
The listening Jesus heard;
No troubled sense of grace deferred,
No murmuring today.
Just let me hear Thee say,
"This is My son."
And so, Thy will be done!
