It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I give this testimony of the great benefits I have experienced since turning to Christian Science over four years ago. I was then a very sick man indeed. The doctors told me I was suffering from what they called angina pectoris, which they said was incurable. Believing that, I went from bad to worse, and I felt myself pretty near the grave, when I was invited to a Christian Science Sunday service. I accepted the invitation, and attended a service on the following Sunday. I was very much impressed with it, and took home with me that night a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which I immediately began to study. I very soon took a great liking to the textbook, and continued to study it diligently, along with the Bible. I also read the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly every morning. In less than three months I realized that i was quite free from the heart trouble.

Up to that time I had also been suffering from two other complaints: eczema on both my feet for seventeen years, and constipation since boyhood. These difficulties left me at the same time, and neither of them has made the slightest reappearance. During these four years I have kept good health, and regained strength to the extent that I feel fitter now than I did thirty years ago.

In course of time I found I was capable of helping others, and took advantage of every opportunity that came my way. I shall relate one instance of how, through a knowledge of Christian Science, I was able to save a baby from the surgeon's knife. My elder daughter, the mother of a fine, healthy, cheerful boy, one year and nine months old, was dissatisfied with his features. She thought the skin over the bridge of his nose, and at the inner corners of both eyes, was too tight, preventing his nose from growing to a proper shape. She took the child to an eye specialist, who told her the trouble could be rectified by slitting the skin at the inner corners of both eyes. When my daughter told me this, I tried to persuade her against it, but all to no purpose. I adhered to the truth about the perfection of God's creation, notwithstanding the disfigurement my daughter thought she saw in her child's features. Some time later, my daughter told me the eye specialist had appointed the next morning for the operation, and she wanted my wife and me to accompany her to the eye infirmary. I promised I would; and then commenced to work differently, declaring that God's work is perfect, and requires no alteration.
