I have been a student of Christian Science for over fifteen years.

Shortly after the birth of our eldest child I became a cripple. This trouble, though seemingly slight at first, grew to such an extent that I suffered constantly almost unbearable pain, and crawled most of the time rather than attempt to walk. I wore glasses and could not have distinguished my best friend across the street without them. In fact death, which I then thought was a gateway through which one might pass into peace and release from pain, would have been acceptable had it not been for the thought that I felt it was my God-given duty to help bring up our son.

Many material means to relieve me were tried, but all physicians consulted seemed at a loss to name the trouble or its cause. Now I know that error in any form has no cause. God is the only cause, and He is infinite good; hence, man in God's image can reflect only good.
