Efficient Use of Time

[Written Especially for Young People]

Time is believed to be one of the most important factors in the experience of the college student, especially of one who, in addition to his studies, is engaged in remunerative work. The efficient use of every minute is essential, if the student wishes to meet scholastic requirements and make a good record while enjoying many of the extracurricular activities.

Every demand upon a student's time is therefore carefully weighed, and those activities which from a practical point of view will do him the most good are placed first. As a student of Christian Science, he is confronted with the necessity of allowing adequate time for the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly, for reading the authorized Christian Science literature, and for attending the meetings of the Christian Science organization if there is one at his college. He can be convinced, again from a practical point of view, that the time allotted for these activities is very profitable, and will aid substantially in making his college experience the most fruitful and progressive years he has yet spent.

Like a builder on the walls of Jerusalem who, directed by the wisdom and foresight of Nehemiah, "with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon," the student must realize the importance of constantly protecting his thought from suggestions of fear, discouragement, anxiety, apathy, and indifference, while engaged in his scholastic activities.
