Once again I should like to express my sincere respect,...

Once again I should like to express my sincere respect, gratitude, and love for Christian Science.

Until I was almost thirty years of age I experienced an unusual amount of sickness and many difficulties. My pursuits were in accord with twentieth-century customs and ways until, in my twenty-eighth year, adversity and trouble came upon me in such a severe form that it seemed to be more than I could bear. In the short space of a year's time I was stricken with paralysis and threatened with insanity. My money was gone, and I was left to the kindness of my relatives, who tenderly cared for me during my trouble. As I was not a Christian Scientist and knew nothing of Christian Science treatment or practitioners, physicians were called; but in spite of their best and most modern treatment I steadily grew worse, until at last, in utter hopelessness and despair, I made several desperate but futile attempts at selfdestruction.

At this point Christian Science was recommended to me, and, with a large amount of unbelief on my part, I began having treatment. Copies of The Christian Science Journal, Sentinel, and Monitor were brought to my bedside, and then the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, was given to me, and the practitioner kindly visited me. Before long I was out of bed and making strenuous efforts to help myself. My first feeble attempts at walking were rewarded by improvement, and before many weeks had passed I was working and rejoicing in my restoration to health.
