My early environment was the atmosphere of medical science. My father and mother were both busy practicing physicians, and my two brothers were educated in the same profession. I thus became the fifth member of my family to follow in the study and practice of medicine. After receiving my degree in homeopathy at our state university, I graduated from a medical college of the regular or allopathic school. Thereafter, for seven years, I was a member of the medical staff of a state institution.

My attention was first seriously directed to Christian Science through the beneficial changes which it had wrought in a friend. On my visits to her she lovingly explained to me something of the nature and teaching of Christian Science. I was at this time a member of the Presbyterian church. While I did not then fully grasp the meaning of what she attempted to give me, my thought nevertheless was somewhat leavened by the spiritual truth which was conveyed. As a result, in carrying on my work in the state institution I began to hold a different mental outlook towards those confided to my care, and it was at once apparent to me that the patients responded accordingly to this improved mental attitude on my part.

A little later on, my husband received a pronounced mental and physical healing through Christian Science which greatly strengthened my faith, and proved to me the demonstrable nature of Christian Science, and its value as a remedial system. In the more than twenty-five years that have followed, a large number of our relatives and friends have become adherents of Christian Science, and I have had the opportunity of observing its healing power and effect in a variety of cases.
