Changing the Evidences

Perhaps many of us who are striving to live up to the high standard of right thinking which Christian Science teaches is necessary if we are to work out our salvation from all evil, are conscious of the need for greater watchfulness, moment by moment, in order that we may not unwittingly allow error to deprive us of the reward of our earnest efforts to think rightly.

It would sometimes seem that even while we are striving to hold thought to the truth of harmonious being we still experience the conditions which error tries to impose upon us, as though we possessed two opposite natures, each trying to gain the ascendancy.

Our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has written in her work "Unity of Good" (p. 21), "If we observe our mental processes, we shall find that we are perpetually arguing with ourselves; yet each mortal is not two personalities, but one." This we feel expresses our own experience, but we can rejoice that we are not two personalities, but one individual.
