I am grateful for this opportunity to testify to the healing and protecting power of Christian Science, and hope it may help some in their hour of need to realize the ever-presence of God.

In 1924 I became ill, had to give up work and eventually go into hospital, where I was told that my trouble was tuberculosis. My home was broken up, since I lived alone, having no relatives. With home, job, and health gone, I felt destitute indeed. The painful condition persisted, and I seemed doomed to spend the rest of my life as a chronic invalid. Cheerful enough outwardly, I was tossed about mentally between rebellion, contrition, hope, and despair, and was always suffering more or less.

While I was grateful for all the kindness shown by doctors and nurses, I had come to the conclusion that, since all material remedies had failed, only God could heal me, if I humbled myself and became obedient. Faith had raised the head of hope, and Love stood ready to be revealed.
