Christ Jesus

He walked the earth in holy peace,
To sorrow-laden brought release;
At his command the raging sea
Was calmed in primal harmony.
The deaf and dumb, the lame and blind,
In matter's prison long confined,
Leaped from their dungeons unafraid.

Two thousand years have passed away,
Since his disciples learned to pray,
"Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,"
Two thousand years, and yet but one,
For here and now that day is here
When Christ, or Truth, must reappear
To free the captive slaves of sense,
Revealing thus omnipotence.
