Athol, Massachusetts (First Church).—Dedicatory services were held on Sunday, January 30, 1938, at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 165 Ridge Avenue, in the morning and afternoon. The building is of the bungalow type, finished outside in gray stained shingles with white trim. The auditorium has a seating capacity of about one hundred. Across the front are the Reading Room and Sunday school room, with folding doors between so that a larger congregation may be accommodated.

In addition to the regular service, including the Lesson-Sermon on "Love" in the Christian Science Quarterly, which was read in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world on that Sunday, the First Reader read substantially the following history:

Christian Science services were first held in Athol in 1889. For ten years about fifteen people used to meet at the home of one of the group; and then in 1899 a Christian Science Society was started.
