The Sentinel
Idly
I scanned the page,
Too sad at heart to read,
When presently some words stood out
Illumined, and I said,
"Here is the living water that
Will quench my thirsting need."
Eagerly then my eyes
Turned to the page again,
Until as fragrant scents ascend
From parched earth after rain,
My sleeping gratitude awoke
To find that loss is gain....
And lo, confusion steals away, grim fears depart—
A benediction rests upon my heart.
