When I was a young child, my mother was led to Christian Science...

When I was a young child, my mother was led to Christian Science after the doctors had told her that there was no hope of saving my life and that I might live only a few hours or a few days. A much-loved friend recommended that a Christian Science practitioner be called, and the recommendation was quickly heeded. In a very short time I was completely and permanently healed and from that time on was a strong and healthy child. Since then Christian Science has been our only physician, our protection and defense, our greatest joy and deepest satisfaction in every way.

One experience that has been the source of much inspiration is the straightening of my teeth. When my second teeth came in they were very much crowded and the dentist who cleaned them advised that braces be put on at once. However, my mother decided to stand firmly by the fact of man's perfection as taught in Christian Science. I have always remembered the truths she declared to me at that time—that in God's creation every idea is occupying its right place, performing its proper function, unimpaired by any other idea; that there is no crowding out of place and no lack of room for the full and complete expression of ideas of Mind. Then she took up the work and daily gave consecrated thought to the demonstration of these facts. Some time later, perhaps a year or longer, I again visited the dentist who had recommended the braces, and when he examined my teeth he said with great surprise: "Why, your teeth are in perfect order. You have a perfect bite."

Through the years this has been a most hopeful and encouraging proof of the power of Christian Science. I am, of course, deeply grateful for the alertness and the loving consecration of my mother, who was wise enough to do specific work about this.
