For a few of the many healings I have had through the teachings, study, and application of Christian Science I desire to express my deepest gratitude.

The belief that I was deriving a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction from smoking tobacco held me in strong bondage for many years. The habit grew to such an extent that it seemed necessary to have a pipe or a cigar in my mouth almost constantly during waking hours. The time came when I wished to quit smoking, but failure followed every attempt to rid myself of this persistent custom. I tried several so-called tobacco cures; each time, after a day or so, I returned to smoking again with a greater appetency than before.

About this time I began reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I disagreed with her on many things she said about the tobacco and liquor habits, and would cast the book aside for weeks at a time. There was an inclination, however, to continue reading, and finally the perusal of Science and Health was completed. The desire for smoking was destroyed before I finished reading the book through. I am thankful to say that I was completely healed, and there has been no craving since for the use of tobacco in any form. This healing occurred some fourteen years ago.
