True Evidence
The highest purpose one can have is to bring into evidence the power of God through healing and regeneration. Starting with God, the one cause and creator, the Christian Scientist acknowledges but one infinite, perfect, spiritual creation, in which there is no destructive or destructible element. He denounces as false and impotent the basic error of mortal mind which claims that the life, intelligence, and substance of man and the universe are material and perishable.
Christian Science teaches that the myth called mortal mind has neither permanency, power, nor any actual evidence to present, and that man's spiritual senses and their evidence are everlastingly pure, harmonious, and all-inclusive. On this basis, the Christian Scientist denies the physical senses and their counterfeit evidence. Spiritual sense bears witness to health, righteousness, and immortality, and there are no other senses. In all ages, instinctive and irrepressible faith in the power of God has come to humanity's rescue. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." True evidence and substance are inseparable.
Christ Jesus was not deceived by the appearance of sin, disease, and death. To him no evidence was credible save that which spoke to him of the Father and of spiritual man. Through his exalted understanding, his love, his purity, Jesus brought into evidence the healing power of Christ, Truth, and blessed humanity as it had never before been blessed.
