The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

New York, New York (Eleventh Church).

Lecturer: William Wallace Porter; introduced by William H. Siebert, who said:—

In the Preface to the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, we read (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, today is big with blessings." Christian Science is a practical and demonstrable religion, as provable as mathematics, and yet so simple that a child can readily understand and apply its teachings. Over a period of fifteen years it has been a source of health, protection, and guidance to me and mine. I have been healed of many discordant conditions, including serious physical ailments; also of the smoking and drinking habits in aggravated forms. It has also proved most helpful to me in business, by stabilizing my thinking and fortifying me in handling the various phases of human will which, at times, present themselves to us in our daily work.
