"Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts!...
"Glory be to God, and peace to the struggling hearts! Christ hath rolled away the stone from the door of human hope and faith, and through the revelation and demonstration of life in God, hath elevated them to possible at-onement with the spiritual idea of man and his divine Principle, Love." These glorious words, found on page 45 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, epitomize the expression of my gratitude for Christian Science, which has healed me of fear, resentment, loneliness, lack, sickness, and sorrow.
An early experience still remains in thought as an incentive for deeper consecration and sincere loyalty to our inspired Leader and the Cause which she founded. At that time I had just passed through a great sorrow. There was still a lingering belief that death would bring surcease from pain and sorrow. During one memorable night, the suggestion came that there was nothing left for me to strive for. The Psalmist's words, "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord," roused me from this mental state. They revealed the fact that we can never die out of any difficulty, but we can live triumphantly through every trial; and I then understood our Leader's statement (ibid., p. 66), "Trials are proofs of God's care." Through several subsequent experiences, the fact that God is Life has been more firmly established in my consciousness.
From childhood I had a great longing for a peaceful and harmonious home. Through the study of Mrs. Eddy's words (ibid., p. 254), "Pilgrim on earth, thy home is heaven," this joy is now mine. The Christian Science Benevolent Association Sanatoriums are to me also the outward expression of a beautiful concept of home. The courtesy and love expressed by the associates make the whole atmosphere especially pleasing. The few days spent at one of these Sanatoriums inspired me to work for our Cause with more gratitude, joy, and consecration.
