McComb, Mississippi (First Church).—"This branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, founded by Mary Baker Eddy, had its beginning in the year 1915, when a few students met on Sunday mornings in a private home to read the Lesson-Sermons from the Christian Science Quarterly. Soon others interested in Christian Science joined this group; later a Christian Science Society was formed, and on February 1, 1920, the first public service was held in the W. O. W. Hall on Main Street. Application was made, and admission to The Mother Church as a Christian Science Society was granted at this time. The Sunday school was immediately organized, and has continued throughout these years.

"Following the leadings of divine Mind the present building site was punchased in February, 1922.

"God so graciously blessed our efforts to apply the teachings of Christian Science that progress was manifested in the establishment of a Reading Room, and in addition to the regular Sunday service, Wednesday evening services were begun. This growth required a more suitable location, which was found in the Heidenreich building on Main Street, in July of 1924.
