I desire to express my profound gratitude for Christian Science and the change in my life resulting from a better understanding of God.

Eight years ago I was in an automobile accident and sustained a dislocated spine. Subsequently, through the advice of eminent specialists, I became the object of prolonged experiments, including osteopathy, chiropractic, and electrotherapy, with long periods of hospitalization. I lived the life of a confirmed cripple, being constantly in pain, with my torso encased in a steel and leather jacket which weighed thirty pounds. I traveled far and wide, visiting various watering places, consulting with orthopedic specialists of whom I had heard. Also, I tried months of exposure in the Florida sun, but obtained no relief whatsoever from my affliction. Ultimately, I was informed by a specialist of unquestionable ability and integrity that paralysis was inevitable. Then, when another specialist of equal prominence made the same prediction, my mental condition became one of chaos.

For many years I had known of Christian Science, having read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, in a rather perfunctory way. Hence, as a last resort, I determined to make a serious investigation of Mrs. Eddy's teachings. Through a friend I was referred to a practitioner, whom I immediately visited with an attitude of skepticism. I insisted upon outlining the nature and seriousness of my affliction to him. His reply was, "I prefer that you refrain from such detail and let me tell you of the kingdom of God, and emphasize the Word of God as revealed to our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, that 'divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need'" (Science and Health, p. 494). After about an hour of attentiveness, I was told to return home, remove and discard the surgical appliance, and read certain passages from the Bible and Science and Health. This I did, and within twenty-four hours a complete and permanent cure was effected. This demonstration occurred on June 13, 1933, and since that time I have been in excellent health.

One year after this demonstration, I was in Philadelphia to inspect the roof of the new post office which the company with whom I am associated had constructed. As it was a holiday, it was necessary to walk up and down twelve flights of stairs. My associates, who were familiar with my previous affliction, insisted that I should not attempt such an undertaking, but, knowing that God's promises would prevail, I completed the task with less effort than those accompanying me.

I am a living witness of the promise, "Behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again unto this land; for I will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have spoken to thee of."

For this evidence of the healing power of the presence of God I am deeply grateful.
