Christian Science came into my life at a crucial moment
Christian Science came into my life at a crucial moment. After I had doctored for most of my years with prominent physicians and surgeons all over the country, and had had several major and minor operations, I was sent to a mental hospital. I remained there for four years, seemingly mentally and physically shattered and with no hope for recovery or light, until one day, through the activities of a literature distribution committee of a Christian Science church, I picked up a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel. As soon as I saw it, though mortal mind would afford me no encouragement, hope and desire seemed to be awakened in me and I wanted to live again, to know and love God, who fills our lives, if we but allow Him, with peace and contentment. Previously I had wanted to pass away, as I had been such a burden to my husband and devoted family.
The day I picked up the Sentinel was visiting day at the hospital, and when my husband came to see me he was encouraged by the look of hope, which he had not seen for many years. I asked him if he would be satisfied if I tried Christian Science, and without hesitation he left the hospital to seek a practitioner. I am grateful to God and the practitioner for my wonderful healing and assistance. I went twice a week for treatment, and as these treatments continued, the doctors and my family were truly grateful for my improved condition. I was released from the hospital after having three months of Christian Science treatment.
I was also healed of insomnia, dyspepsia, constipation, the need of wearing glasses continually, bunions, corns, mucous colitis, sinus trouble, catarrh, and many more ills.
It is four years since I accepted this glorious practical religion that fills my every need. I am indeed grateful for being home again. I am grateful to the loyal and willing workers of this wonderful faith, and for our loyal group, which is now enjoying Christian Science services every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. I am grateful for all my blessings, and especially grateful for having had the privilege of attending services at The Mother Church. I am grateful, too, for having sought and found, having asked and received. For all these awakenings I am very grateful to our Father-Mother God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to our saintly Leader, who opened the way for a better understanding of the Bible.
