Is Economics Academic or Divine?

The bewildering academics on the subject of economics cease to overawe the student of Christian Science who is remembering the First Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." This "me," Christian Science teaches, is Spirit.

If confronted with sickness, the student of this Science does not study medical theories before he gives a treatment. If the case is a needed release from sin or sorrow, he does not delve into false scholastic theology before attempting to release the sinner or the sorrowful one. His study of the Bible and the revelation of Christian Science teach the student to turn at once, and solely, to Mind; to begin with the fundamental rule of perfect God and perfect man, and proceed as his prayerful designation leads him.

The very word "economics" presents such an array of constantly exploding theories as to lead the thoughtful student to ask himself, "Is there no balm in Gilead?" There certainly is no balm in mere human reasoning, material experiments, or doctrines which have no basis in divine Principle.
