Joy, Man's Birthright

Discernment of the spiritual nature of joy led the Psalmist to sing, "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."

The light that comes to human consciousness as the result of prayer and spiritual communion makes clear the fact that joy is an expression of infinite Mind, Soul, Spirit, and therefore an inherent part of man's nature. Joy is a quality of God, and its presence is evidence of the holiness of man, the son of God.

When one understands the true nature of joy, one can see plainly that it is not merely an emotion resulting from felicitous experiences. Joy is always at hand, and it is never dependent on circumstances. It cannot be depleted by time, person, place, or thing; it is eternally established as a permanent part of the nature of man.
