A dictionary defines "gratitude" as "an appreciation of favors received." What greater favor can a mortal receive than the overcoming of false traits of character, which ofttimes seem to bind him so that the happiness of those about him is crushed? Such a healing required much study of Mrs. Eddy's article entitled "Obedience," as found on pages 116–120 of "Miscellaneous Writings," and a constant desire to see man as the reflection of God.

During the years that I have been a student of Christian Science I have been favored by being a witness to many physical healings in my immediate family. Among these are healings of paralysis, a severe stomach disorder, and pneumonia with measles in a small child. An eye trouble in a child in the second grade was so completely and beautifully healed in three weeks that glasses have never been needed The patience and love manifested by practitioners during these times are still a great help as I strive to realize the omnipresence of Love in the daily round of home duties.

Other favors for which I am grateful include subscriptions to our literature, which is so filled with healing thoughts; increasing harmony in our home; and the privilege of serving in a small way in a branch church.
