I respectfully request space to reply to an attack on Christian Science by a local preacher, as reported in your columns.

In his comments he linked Christian Science with spiritualism, and likened it to the characters of Benedict Arnold and Judas Iscariot. These implications show the preacher's complete lack of knowledge of Christian Science.

If the preacher had read the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, he would have found a chapter entitled "Christian Science versus Spiritualism," in which Mrs. Eddy says (p. 71), "I never could believe in spiritualism;" and (p. 99): "Those individuals, who adopt theosophy, spiritualism, or hypnotism, may possess natures above some others who eschew their false beliefs. Therefore my contest is not with the individual, but with the false system."
