I am immeasurably grateful for Christian Science, and should like to take this means of showing a small degree of gratitude for all that it has done for me and mine.

As a child, I remember hearing my eldest sister and her friends discuss Mrs. Eddy, and from what they said I thought she was someone to be feared, and I always felt rather afraid of people who were Christian Scientists. When about nine years old I became very friendly with a little girl whose parents were Christian Scientists, and our friendship has continued through the years.

In 1920 I had a severe illness which the doctors named infected kidneys, and was flat on my back and unable to turn myself for five weeks. One of my sisters, who had been a Scientist for years, was in the East at the time. She received word of my condition, so arranged to come this way on her return home. She could stay only two days, but I asked all about Christian Science and she read and talked to me. I was up in a chair before she left and was convinced that this was the religion I wanted. After she returned to her home in California she sent me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, also a Christian Science Quarterly. As I was unable to leave my room I sat and read Science and Health all day.
