The blessings that have come to me through the study...
The blessings that have come to me through the study and application of Christian Science are so numerous that it seems difficult to know where to start in acknowledging them.
One of the most outstanding in my thought is the healing of all sense of separation at the passing on of members of my family. Though I was interested in Christian Science when my mother passed on, it was two years before the hurt of her going was healed. This healing came to me quite suddenly one afternoon during a conversation with a very loving Christian Science friend. Some years later, when my father also went through the experience of death, I was able to meet the thought of separation within half an hour. And a few months following, when a brother died as the result of an accident, I instantly refused to admit the possibility of anything but life for him, and have never experienced any sense of separation from him at all, only an increased realization of the wonderful love of God, in whom all live and move and have their being.
After the illness and passing of my father and then my brother, I was for two years in charge of the family estate. This came at the time of two consecutive dry summers, during which the question of the shortage of water became for many people a very serious one. By applying the knowledge that God is our infinite source of supply in every circumstance, and being grateful as each day passed that we had had enough for that day, and standing firmly on the truth of God's care for man, however strong the argument seemed that our supply was failing, we were never short of water either for the house or for the animals on the estate. When one source failed, the supply came through another. There were moments when I just stood still at the wonder of it. On one occasion especially tears of gratitude came to my eyes. The day before I had been told that there was no water for the cattle at a certain place, and one of the men asked if he should dig, which I told him to do, and when I saw him the next morning he told me that the water had come in "clear as crystal."
