In September, 1931, I attended my first Christian Science service, and since then have experienced a number of blessings and healings. I had been suffering for seven years from severe stomach trouble with unpleasant symptoms. Because of fear of pain I never ate supper, but in spite of that I could not sleep at night. I was constantly under medical treatment, but my condition grew worse instead of better. Then I was X-rayed, and the doctor told me that I had tuberculosis of the lungs. He tried to console me by saying that I could probably live a long time with this trouble, but that the lung could never be healed.
In February, 1932, I went to a practitioner and had Christian Science treatment. with the result that after two months I could fearlessly eat anything without harmful results or difficulties, and I began to feel better and stronger. Also I could sleep well, for I had stopped worrying about the future. I learned that our dear Father-Mother God always helps us when we endeavor to reflect His love, and that Love knows no fear and sends no sickness. In a few months I had to report to the doctor again, for he wanted to take another X ray. He was amazed at my healthy appearance, and was surprised to hear that my stomach was in order. He then examined me thoroughly and said, "I can find nothing the matter with the lung; you are healed." Later I was healed of severe heart trouble.
I am inexpressibly grateful to our Father-Mother God for these wonderful healings, and I know that He will help me to overcome the many errors of thinking which I still have to destroy. Also, I thank our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for her wonderful textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," through which I have learned that God is my only Physician, that Spirit, not a material remedy, heals me, and that divine Love is the source of all supply. We read in the textbook (p. 206), "In the scientific relation of God to man, we find that whatever blesses one blesses all." I have proved this in my family, and we have all become more joyous and happy through Christian Science. "Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty."
