The Lectures

Introduction to Lectures

Albuquerque, New Mexico (First Church).

Lecturer: Peter B. Biggins; introduced by Mrs. Laura Poe, who said:—

New Mexico is regarded as a sunshine state and as a health resort, because almost every day of the year we enjoy the glorious sunlight. But students of Christian Science know of a more glorious sunlight whose healing rays all may enjoy without leaving their homes, and that never fails to heal when rightly applied. It is the sunlight of Truth. In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 162), "Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies." On page 558 of the same book she writes: "To mortal sense Science seems at first obscure, abstract, and dark; but a bright promise crowns its brow. When understood, it is Truth's prism and praise. When you look it fairly in the face, you can heal by its means, and it has for you a light above the sun, for God 'is the light thereof.'" The Psalmist sang, "For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."
