More blessed and gratifying than any dominion over the physical senses could ever be is the knowledge of the Science of being, the Science which Jesus understood and lived, and which our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, discovered and revealed to us through Christian Science.

Words fail to express my gratitude for this dawn of a new day, defined by Mrs. Eddy in part, on page 584 of Science and Health, as "the irradiance of Life." It has given me strength and courage to persevere against what seemed an insurmountable barrier. This perseverance was strengthened by my gratitude for The Christian Science Board of Leadership, whose members in their selfless devotion tell us so plainly in their lectures of this Science. Only when all else had failed was I able to see that one must give up the material sense of life for the divine, forsake human planning, and follow truly this Science or knowledge of God.

I am grateful for many healings in Christian Science. Among these are relief from successive colds, summer and winter, from which I have now been free for years; the overcoming of fear of storms, with the resultant physical effects; and the healing of a severe burn from an oven explosion. The arm was burned from shoulder to wrist in almost a solid blister, but I experienced absolutely no pain or discomfort. In the last-mentioned experience I was able to continue my work as a stenographer, and at night I was able to sleep on one arm as readily as the other. This experience was to me a gratifying one, as I could clearly see that the healing might be a proof for those unacquainted with Christian Science. As a result, a friend was healed of an incurable disease, having accepted Christian Science.
