Daily Supplies

A student of Christian Science once found herself in a difficult situation, where she had very little money and was in need of employment. This hard experience forced her to look away from material sense to spiritual truth for the answer to her problem. She read in the Bible, "Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee," and realized that she must learn more of God.

In studying the synonyms for God, on page 465 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, the student lost her sense of fear, and saw that her well-being did not depend on what was in her purse, but on her knowing man's relationship to his Father-Mother God, his inseparability from God and from God-bestowed protection. She saw that to consult the material exchequer to ascertain her prospects for good or ill was as unscientific as it would be to feel her pulse to find out the state of true health. During this period the fatherhood and motherhood of God were expressed to her in many beautiful ways, and she soon found employment.

What are the spiritual facts about man and supply? On page 475 of Science and Health, in answer to the question, "What is man?" Mrs. Eddy says in part, "He is the compound idea of God, including all right ideas." Man, therefore, includes the true idea of supply. He manifests God's qualities, such as intelligence, wisdom, goodness, love; and these qualities, are always active and productive of harmony.
