No Christian Scientist would dispute that pain appears to exist in human experience. But is there no salvation from that which produces pain? Must progress be always painful and attended by discord, accident, and death? Christian Science maintains that these conditions are unnecessary and abnormal and have not been correctly understood, and presents something new for consideration, that is, that all causation is mental. On this basis Christian Science healing is accomplished.
I have had my fair share of pain, from which there seemed no hope of relief until I commenced the study of Christian Science. The truths I learned restored me to health and harmony. Whenever pain arises in my experience, I apply what I know as taught in Christian Science, and freedom follows. Christian Science operates in human experience to govern the body harmoniously.
Peter and John knew of a power that changed impotent legs to immediate normality. Why should not Christians of today know of this power? Christian Science has restored this power, and is exercising it in the same way that Jesus did. It is idle, nay it is totally untrue, to assert that the healing work of Christian Science is done through the practice of hypnotism.
