Trying experiences associated with the human belief of...

Trying experiences associated with the human belief of existence gradually brought to me a great fear of life's problems, and a personal sense of inferiority incidental to the acceptance of such conclusions. Opposition, defeat, discouragement, and self-condemnation led to physical diseases of a serious and alarming nature and forced the decision that if I was ever to survive and reach a reasonable degree of maturity, something in the nature of a miracle must take place. Human ingenuity and material methods of medicine and physiology were proved inadequate.

Christian Science was presented to me as a possible solution, and I accepted it instantly, and since have embraced its teachings and enjoyed its positive results. Although I was supposed to be incurably ill, I was healed within a short time. Fear and self-condemnation were excluded from thought and confidence was restored. Business situations and activities were faced with the understanding that righteousness is the basis of supply and success. The understanding that God's presence is constantly with man, guiding and directing the entire universe, impersonalized problems, so that the outlook on life became filled with joy and anticipation.

Today, after eighteen years of a more abundant life because of Christian Science, I feel supremely happy and unafraid of the present and future. Mary Baker Eddy supplied me with that which I needed, an understanding of God and my relationship to Him, bringing release from impending doom. I shall never cease to praise her work, that of establishing a religion free from ignorance and emotionalism and carrying a promise of eternal harmony.
