Trying experiences associated with the human belief of existence gradually brought to me a great fear of life's problems, and a personal sense of inferiority incidental to the acceptance of such conclusions. Opposition, defeat, discouragement, and self-condemnation led to physical diseases of a serious and alarming nature and forced the decision that if I was ever to survive and reach a reasonable degree of maturity, something in the nature of a miracle must take place.
