Since I have been receiving the blessings of Christian Science...
Since I have been receiving the blessings of Christian Science for twenty-five years, it is time a testimony was forthcoming acknowledging these blessings. A desire to know the facts about Christian Science led me to read "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I had not finished reading the first chapter, entitled "Prayer," when it was uncovered to me that the sense of hatred I was harboring must be overcome. Reasoning from the basis that "God is love," which was unfolded to me while reading in this chapter, and that therefore all of His children can reflect only love, I was finally lifted into the "peace of God, which passeth all understanding," and a clear realization of the following verses of Scripture was unfolded to me: "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."
Christian Science has been an invaluable help to me in bringing up three children. Their privilege of attending the Christian Science Sunday School I most deeply appreciate, because many problems were met through the application of the truth they learned.
When a loved one passed on, I was stricken with such a sense of grief that I almost passed on also. I asked a practitioner for treatment, and in a few days received a healing, and with it came a fuller realization of the eternality of Life.
Early in my study of Christian Science my desire to be obedient to the Manual of The Mother Church left me without an excuse for not subscribing to the literature; for Article VIII, Section 14, which reads in part, "It shall be the privilege and duty of every member, who can afford it, to subscribe for the periodicals which are the organs of this Church," is very explicit. And what a blessing that obedience has brought to me!
An early regret in my life came when I had to give up my anticipated schooling. Our daily newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, is becoming my "university instructor," and through its instruction I am beginning to realize the true brotherhood of man. The other periodicals have also met a great need.
For membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, for serving as Circulation Representative, and for all the other church activities in which it has been my privilege to assist, I am deeply grateful. These all have been occasions of spiritual growth.
