The benefits that we as a family have derived from Christian Science have been many. In times of sorrow and lack it has brought us comfort and peace. In times of illness it has protected and healed us.

I first became interested in this Science through the healing of our baby daughter. When this child was six months old, we were confronted with a case of malnutrition. We employed the services of a physician, and he worked on the case with a baby specialist for about eight months. During this time we experimented with first one food and then another, the child growing steadily worse until she weighed only thirteen pounds. Then I decided to apply for help in Christian Science. For several years a friend had been telling me about this Science and what it had done for her and her family. I appealed to her to begin work for our daughter, and Christian Science treatment was lovingly given. The doctors were dismissed, the many kinds of medicines were thrown out, and we relied entirely on Christian Science. The healing effects were immediate—the crying ceased, and the child slept peacefully. In a week's time she was enjoying her food and gaining weight. This was the last time this child had medical care, and her younger sister has never had any.

Christian Science has been a preventive of sickness as well as a cure to these children. The only so-called children's diseases which they experienced were measles and chicken pox. A case of the latter was healed in just a few hours. During an epidemic of chicken pox, one of the children was sent home from school because she had contracted this disease. A practitioner was immediately called, and the healing work started. Five hours later, when the school physician called, due to the progress that had been made he stated that he could not pronounce it chicken pox—that he could not understand the case, and that we were to send the child back to school the following day.
