About thirty years ago Christian Science was brought to my attention through my mother-in-law's splendid healing of lupus—a cancerous condition of the nose. At that time, and for many years after, I had no desire to learn of the teachings of Christian Science, because I was satisfied with the religion I then had. Later I proved the truth of the statement that "man's extremity is God's opportunity."

Twenty years ago our three months' old son had suffered terribly from the time of his birth with a chronic stomach and bowel condition. After exhausting our knowledge of medicine, we were told by the doctor that it was impossible for our son to live. Although I had read and heard much of Christian Science, it never occurred to me to try it until this verdict was given. I then turned wholeheartedly to God. My husband called a practitioner for help and our son was instantaneously healed. From that time to the present there has been no return of the condition. Needless to say, since then God has been our only physician.

I am very grateful for this experience—as I might still be groping for pleasure in matter, had it not been that all material hope had been withdrawn—and for the protection that the study of Christian Science has given to me at all times. Before I took up this study I was subject to many ailments.
