In grateful acknowledgment of innumerable blessings...
In grateful acknowledgment of innumerable blessings which have come to me through Christian Science I send this testimony.
One night as I was taking a short cut to a street car on my way to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, in the darkness I stepped off into space over a four-foot embankment, landing face and head down in a pit the bottom of which was strewn with broken concrete and burnt bricks. Upon rising to my feet I found that blood was pouring down my face and this brought a sense of fear for an instant. I declared aloud: "God is my Life. There are no accidents in His kingdom." I was about fifty feet from the house and had to call a number of times before making myself heard. My son came and helped me up the embankment. In spite of the severity of the injuries, I had retained consciousness and was able to walk into the house, wash off the blood, and then lie down comfortably on a couch. It was found that there were two deep holed in one temple and a deep cut or hole on the bridge of the nose. Clean pads were placed over these wounds and minor scratches were washed and cared for. This was absolutely all that was done in a material way.
A Christian Science practitioner was called on the telephone and asked to work for me, and while this message was being sent I repeated over and over again, with a clear realization of its meaning, "the scientific statement of being" as given by Mrs. Eddy on page 468 of our textbook, Science and Health. Although the nose appeared to be badly injured both inside and out, there was no sense of pain with the exception of a bruised feeling when the nose was blown or touched. Later it was found to be broken.
