With a grateful heart I offer my testimony regarding healings which I have received through Christian Science.

When my husband and I were victims of a so-called influenza epidemic we were beautifully healed. Following this experience we enrolled our two eldest boys in Sunday school. I thought my babies and my household duties kept me too busy to try to attend church or to study regularly.

In July, 1923, our second son was in an accident and passed on before we could reach him. The shock and grief caused me much suffering, sleepless nights, and extreme nervousness. Then it was that I turned to God with my whole heart. The healing seemed slow, and many lessons were learned as I gained more of the understanding of God's allness, and especially that God is Life, never beginning and never ending. Each morning I arose at five o'clock and spent two hours studying the Lesson-Sermon as given in the Christian Science Quarterly, and reading Mrs. Eddy's other writings. I found that when I really desired to go to church it was easy to do so, and from then on I have attended services regularly.

The practitioner on the case expressed much love, kindness, gentleness, and patience, and I am truly grateful for her loving help. I felt I could never do enough to show my gratitude; and this desire led me, in time, to membership in The Mother Church and a branch church.

After three years of joyous activity in church work, business took us to a town in a desert in the southern part of the state. Though I tried to be willing to go, it was with weeping that I left my loved church work and friends. During our four years in the desert town I learned that good is neither person, place, nor thing, but is impersonal, ever present, and infinite. While living there I had the blessed privilege of taking class instruction, for which I am increasingly grateful. Could I have seen the rich unfoldment in store for me I should have gone with rejoicing.

Affections were purified. Pure affection is never selfish, and "mere personal attachment" (Church Manual by Mrs.Eddy, Art. VIII, Sect. 1) cannot represent true love, and sooner or later ends in disappointment. As long as the influence of "mere personal attachment" holds sway, one is placing his happiness in the hands of others, and therefore it is constantly at stake, and advancement Spiritward may be greatly retarded.

Our boys have been healed through Christian Science of whooping cough, measles, mumps, chicken pox, and colds. Mumps entirely disappeared on the third day, and the health officer gave the child permission to return to school at the end of the week.

I am daily striving to be a more worthy Christian Scientist and so express my gratitude for this wonderful truth given to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.—(Mrs.) Thelma Eastman Morley, Santa Rosa, California.
