Health

Health is a divine reality, a spiritual possession bestowed on man by his heavenly Parent, divine Love. It is precious beyond words, a beautiful idea, pure, holy, and radiant with the light of immortality. Not only is it of inestimable value to men, but it is possessed by the real man in unlimited abundance. Spiritual man always has all the health he needs, all the strength, vitality, power, and dominion.

Mary Baker Eddy discovered the truth about health, and gave her discovery to the world in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." An earnest study of this textbook—wherein health and Science are shown to be co-ordinated upon a spiritual basis—has healed a great multitude of people of a wide variety of diseases, and brought to them a clearer realization of perfect health than they have ever known before. On page 120 of this volume Mrs. Eddy has written: "Health is not a condition of matter, but of Mind; nor can the material senses bear reliable testimony on the subject of health. The Science of Mind-healing shows it to be impossible for aught but Mind to testify truly or to exhibit the real status of man. Therefore the divine Principle of Science, reversing the testimony of the physical senses, reveals man as harmoniously existent in Truth, which is the only basis of health; and thus Science denies all disease, heals the sick, overthrows false evidence, and refutes materialistic logic."

Since health, then, is "not a condition of matter, but of Mind," it is purely mental and spiritual, an idea in and of divine Mind. It is indestructible, unchangeable, ever present, and universal in its availability. In a number of respects it is similar to an idea of mathematics. If one were to take a journey, and should have occasion to use the idea that three times three is nine before the start and also at the end of the journey, no one who understands mathematics would say that the traveler had a personal three-times-threeis-nine which he carried with him in order to be able to use it when he so desired. We all know that, being a mathematical fact, it exists everywhere and may be used by everyone.
