With a deep sense of humility and gratitude for our...

With a deep sense of humility and gratitude for our dear Father's loving-kindness, I wish here to acknowledge a healing which I experienced over two years ago while attending my first Christian Science service.

I had been in ill health for about five years, during which time I had the services of three physicians who earnestly tried to help me. They did not seem to be able to meet the situation, but advised me that if I would submit to an operation, they might be able to locate the trouble and relieve me. They thought that the difficulty was ulcers of the stomach and liver inactivity. I was weak, nervous, and emaciated and required assistance when moving about the room.

A relative who had been healed in Christian Science said that she thought it would also help me if I would try it. In my prayers for divine guidance it came to me one day to try this Science, and I advised my family that I wished to go to the Reading Room myself and get some literature. It was arranged for me to do this, and the attendant very lovingly gave me some literature, and told me that what I really needed was the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and she gave me a card so that I might borrow one. In reading the literature I also looked up in the textbook all the references given and from the start I began to feel a strengthening influence.
