Over twenty years ago Christian Science came into my life through my eldest sister, and what a joy it was to learn that God is Love, "the All-in-all, forever near" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 596); also to know that God "can do all things for us in sickness as in health" (ibid., p. 166).
Christian Science has met our every need. In our family of four we have had many wonderful healings, some of which have been instantaneous. One such healing occurred fifteen years ago when I was healed of a severe case of quinsy. When I went to see a practitioner I had been unable to eat or sleep much for about four days. Upon talking with the practitioner I immediately began to feel better, and within four hours all swelling and soreness had entirely disappeared from my throat. The abscess did not burst, but simply disappeared. I was healed; and I have never had so much as a sore throat since. I have also been healed in one day of influenza, and of ptomaine poisoning in one treatment. Colds have been quickly overcome. My husband was healed of typhoid fever in three days. Our two daughters have experienced few of the so-called children's diseases, but these few have been quickly overcome through Christian Science. Five years ago our elder daughter was healed through the earnest help of a Christian Science practitioner of some kind of poisoning from which she had become entirely helpless. More than a year ago the same daughter was healed of a severe case of inflammatory rheumatism in a little over two weeks. We have experienced other healings, of burns, toothache, constipation, chicken pox, measles, and whooping cough; also I have experienced almost painless childbirth and protection against accidents and contagion. For all these healings and many others we are deeply grateful.
I should also like to express my gratitude for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church; for The Christian Science Board of Directors; for the practitioners, who are always ready to help; for our Sunday school, which our girls have the privilege of attending; for all our literature; and for our beautiful hymns.
