I am deeply grateful to God and to Christian Science for a beautiful healing of a broken leg.
During my work, a ladder upon which I was standing slipped, bringing me down heavily on my left side. After being picked up I tried to collect my thoughts and apply Christian Science, but the one sentence I was groping for eluded me; then I suddenly remembered "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468), and I clung desperately to the truth contained in that statement. Before that thought came I could not put any weight on my left leg, but after repeating it over a number of times, I was able not only to put my weight on the leg, but to walk unaided and alone from the top floor of the building to the bottom, down two flights of stairs.
During two hours' wait before the doctor arrived I remembered the words which had escaped my thought earlier, "Accidents are unknown to God" (ibid., p. 424), and from that moment I felt quite calm and cheerful. The doctor who had been called could not find any broken bones and sent me home to rest for a few days, concluding that I was only badly bruised.
