The Surrender to Love

The surrender to Love is not harsh, but is sweet,
As the ointment of Magdalen laving the feet
Of the Saviour, removing the dust of the street.

The surrender to Love is not sad, but sings praise,
Like the song of pure joy which the morning stars raise,
With our brothers in Christ to the Ancient of Days.

The surrender to Love in Gethsemane's gloom,
When our Master had prayed for release from his doom,
Had reward in his victory over the tomb.

So, surrender to Love, O ye sons of the earth,
Then the Father will bid all His household to mirth;
And your travail shall end in the joy of new birth.
