I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, but...

I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, but for greatly needed help in time of financial and other trouble. Christian Science seemed to be the only satisfying and comforting way and the only thing worth clinging to in all that we were going through. One very dear to me was suffering from a severe form of nervous breakdown due to this, and it was decided that he should go to England to see a specialist, and that I should go with him. I received many warnings before leaving as to the danger of my charge, and the constant watch I must keep on him. I know that without Christian Science it would have been impossible to have undertaken this. I was young in Science, and knew very little of it, although I had heard of it many years before, but had not realized all that I was losing by not studying it. I asked for help from a practitioner, who gave it to me in full measure, "pressed down, ... and running over" with love and patience. I learned to see that God is my strength in time of trouble and that though I walked through the waters He was ever with me. I was wonderfully sustained on my journey, and felt that sense of peace, safety, protecting care, and support of which it speaks in Deuteronomy: "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."

I should like also to mention that when traveling I had been in the habit of providing myself with a laxative for the voyage, as otherwise I suffered from headaches and discomfort. I felt rather apprehensive at not taking any medicine with me, but I suffered no discomfort, and this healing has been complete. This demonstration seemed wonderful to me, as I was only looking for big demonstrations and not the ordinary things of life. I should like to express my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for giving us this new-old truth of the ever-availability of God and His unfailing goodness, as taught and demonstrated by Christ Jesus, the Way-shower. I am truly grateful for the selfless, faithful work of our practitioners, who consecrate their lives to the help of mankind in this great work; for the activities of this movement; for membership in The Mother Church, and for the privilege of serving the Cause.—(Miss) Elsie M. Arrindell, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, British West Indies.
