I am very grateful to a friend of mine who gave me my first invitation to a Christian Science lecture. He also told me he had a book which he would like me to read. It proved to be "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. After reading several chapters of this wonderful book I discovered that I had been healed of the tobacco habit in all its forms, the use of alcoholic drink, and profane language.
Although Science and Health had been in our home for several years previous to this, I never had given it a thought nor looked beyond its cover. For years I had medical help for a condition that one doctor called gall bladder trouble, and another appendicitis. I bought all the patent medicines that anyone would recommend, but received no relief from any of them. Through my reading Science and Health and correcting my thinking, these conditions completely vanished. I became interested in Science in February, 1928.
I am very grateful to the church members and attendants for the right thinking which resulted in the building of our new church. I am grateful to God; to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower; and to the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy; also for our inspiring lectures, our radiocast programs, our loving practitioners, and Sunday school; for all the Christian Science literature, especially the Sentinel; for membership in The Mother Church; and for the privilege of serving as First Reader in a branch church.
