All that is correctly known of Christian Science is based...

All that is correctly known of Christian Science is based upon its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This book contains a complete statement of Christian Science, discovered by Mrs. Eddy through her thorough and inspired search of the Scriptures. She states in it (p. 110), "In following these leadings of scientific revelation, the Bible was my only textbook." Again referring to its correlation with the Bible, Mrs. Eddy writes (ibid., p. 271), "The Sermon on the Mount is the essence of this Science," and also that (ibid., p. 577) the revelation of John as recorded by the apostle "is the acme of this Science as the Bible reveals it."

Christian Scientists are ardent students of the Bible. Their growing appreciation of it is due to an intelligent understanding and application of its spiritual meaning, made possible through the study of Christian Science.

The question, "What is God?" is answered in the Christian Science textbook as follows (Science and Health, p. 465): "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." These synonymous terms define one absolute God and constitute a scientific declaration of the nature of Deity.
