With a deeply grateful heart I should like to relate a healing which I experienced through my study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy.

I used to suffer frequently from painful cramp in the stomach, which was followed by vomiting, usually shortly before meals. In the summer of 1928, while staying at a watering-place for a rest, I had an X ray taken, but nothing was found to be wrong. Drinking the mineral waters and taking the baths did not free me from this trouble, which kept recurring every five or six months and lasted for four or five days or even longer. In August, 1929, I consulted a physician, who made an examination but came to no conclusion, and who asked me to call him as soon as the unbearable pain began. In my fearful expectation of it, this condition soon came about. Again, however, a thorough examination had a negative result. That was in the spring of 1931.

In 1933 our attention was directed to Christian Science, and I soon saw that the apparent inharmony in my body was unreal; it was only a false belief. What I had feared had kept recurring. I became earnestly absorbed in the teaching of Christian Science, studied the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly, and the textbook, and in this way learned that "there is but one primal cause. Therefore there can be no effect from any other cause, and there can be no reality in aught which does not proceed from this great and only cause" (Science and Health, p. 207).
