True Relationship

In the experience of most of us, human relationships at times seem sadly involved. Relationships are necessarily diverse, for they include not only those of family, neighbors, business associates, intimate friends, and passing acquaintances, but also the somewhat wider relationships of social, fraternal, religious, and political affiliations. These varied and sometimes divergent relationships, and the obligations they impose often appear to bring confusion, even in the face of a sincere endeavor on the part of the individual to adhere to a high ideal of right conduct and living.

When assailed by confusion on the subject, the student of Christian Science may turn squarely and resolutely away from the distracting testimony of material sense, and may rest and refresh himself with the truth set forth in Mrs. Eddy's statement in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 14), "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth."

With thought thus directed toward the realm of the real, the realm of Spirit, the human sense of many relationships impinging one upon another and suggesting divergent or conflicting duties, may forthwith be corrected and replaced by recognition of the real relationship between God and man, Father and son, and the consequent brotherhood of man.
