"The sovereign Panacea"

[Written Especially for Young People]

To some of our young people, especially to those who have recently graduated from higher institutions of learning, the present state of social and econimic conditions may seem to be an obstruction to their merited success in securing a position, or their establishment in the line of business for which they are prepared.

Many years ago a student of Christian Science graduated from college. He had a splendid academic record and had acquired a broad experience in salesmanship during his vacation periods. He had creditably served during the World War, in the United States and abroad. Apparently, he was qualified for a good position.

For many weeks he had interviewed managers and employers without success in attaining a position. At this time he seemed to be confronted by material resistance, as by a stone wall. However, he endeavored to use the understanding which he had of the truth to solve his problem, diligently praying for further spiritual light, for wisdom and for guidance. A practitioner was helping him to realize that divine Love was imparting to his consciousness—where the need really was—spiritual ideas and qualities of patience, confidence, humility, and love. He was learning that right thinking must precede the unfoldment and demonstration of true progress and true success.
