The testimonies given in our periodicals have been a source of help and joy in our home for fifteen years, and it is with a grateful heart that I acknowledge the many blessings that have come to us through the help of practitioners and the study of Science and Health and other writings of Mary Baker Eddy.

One day I found my father, in the garage where he had been repairing the car, overcome by carbon-monoxide gas. Declaring, "God is your Life, and you know it," I went to call a practitioner in Minneapolis, and with her calm and loving assurance that God is Life and is All, the only presence and power, new strength and courage were given me to meet the conditions which were to follow. Neighbors carried my father into the house and without my knowledge called in a physician and the first-aid squad. I am most grateful for the loving response and desire to help. However, when no hope for recovery was held, incredulous that material aid was not accepted, the physician called the men to witness that I should be held responsible for whatever happened, to which I could only reply that we placed our trust in God.

After an hour or two, consciousness and life were again manifest, and the material laws laid down by friends, namely, that pneumonia was sure to follow, that food could not be given, insanity might result if recovery continued, were proved to be false beliefs. I requested that we be left alone, and my friends reluctantly departed. We may truly sing with the Psalmist: "He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.... A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." We were not alone, but rejoicing in the proof of God's presence and power.
