In gratitude for all the benefits which I have received...

In gratitude for all the benefits which I have received through the study and application of Christian Science, I wish to give this testimony.

In October, 1931, I was healed of a partial nervous breakdown through the loving work of a Christian Science practitioner. This healing was, I am grateful to state, accomplished almost instantaneously. At about the same time, the smoking habit of about eight years' standing and the drinking habit disappeared entirely, and they have never returned.

Undesirable traits of character are also successfully being removed, and in this way God is being glorified. This has been done solely through the faithful application of the rules of Christian Science as set forth by our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in Science and Health.

However, the healing for which I am most grateful is the overcoming of sinful habits. Mrs. Eddy writes of Christian Science, "Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin,—to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world" (ibid., p. 150). To mortal sense, this healing was long and arduous, and at times seemed almost impossible of accomplishment. Nevertheless, the healing was brought about. This experience has enabled me to see more clearly the truth of the above quotation from the textbook. To my parents, to kind friends, and to the faithful practitioners who helped me through this time, no words can express my hearfelt gratitude. Such gratitude can only be expressed in good acts.

Recently, with the help of practitioners, I was healed of a heart and nervous condition brought about through resentment and self-pity. During this time I had the privilege of staying at the Christian Science Benevolent Association Sanatorium in Boston, Massachusetts. I am most grateful for this fine institution and for the loving, consecrated work done there by those in charge.

For membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and for the privilege of ushering and participating in other activities connected with church work, I am indeed grateful; also for all the activities of the Christian Science movement, the literature, and the life of our great Leader.—O. Lincoln Cone, Flushing, Long Island, New York.
