Among the Churches
Sarasota Herald
Sarasota, Florida (First Church).—Informal dedication of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Sarasota, located at the corner of Main Street and East Avenue, took place on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 1935. At the regular Thanksgiving service a historical sketch of the progress of the Christian Science movement in Sarasota was given.
Although the church building was erected five years ago, the dedication was delayed under the ruling that no Christian Science church may be dedicated until it is entirely free from debt. The last of the outstanding obligations has now been paid.
Nineteen years ago there were four Christian Scientists in Sarasota. The home of one was selected as a place to hold services. From that time to the present, Christian Science services have been held every Sunday.
